Walking in Love

Oct 11, 2026  •  Rev. Greg Pittman

Drawing from 2 John and its parent letter, 1 John, this sermon explores the interconnected nature of walking in love, truth, and obedience as a unified Christian calling. The pastor emphasizes that agape love, the only form of love not innate to human beings, must be continually sought from God with the humility and dependence of a small child. This love cannot be manufactured through human effort; it is received by drawing near to God and then extended outward to fellow believers. The sermon also addresses the theological importance of affirming that Jesus Christ came fully as God and fully as human, explaining how early false teachings distorted this truth and why it matters for spiritual growth. Closing with a discussion of Romans 2, the pastor affirms that God's judgment is both just and gracious, reaching even those who have never heard the gospel through the law written on every human heart and through Christ as the ultimate judge of all people's secrets.
