Time-Out for Stewardship

October 23, 2026
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This fall, our stewardship theme is “Worth Investing In.” Over four Sundays—October 25, November 1, 8, and 15—we will explore how God is worth investing in through our talents, treasures, and time, offering our very best so that we and our church can become all God calls us to be. Our journey will culminate on November 15, Consecration Sunday, when we bring these three areas together in one offering of our whole selves to God.

Four Weeks of Prayerful Planning Because God is Worth Investing In.

1. First Timeout: Giving Our Talents —October 25    It’s Draft Day!
Every team must decide which players to draft, and we must consider how best to use the gifts God has given us. As we study Jesus’ challenging Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30), we will reflect on the gifts and abilities God has entrusted to us and prayerfully make our No. 1 and No. 2 draft picks: the ways we can best serve God and our church.

2. Second Timeout: Giving Our Treasures —November 1   Planning with Our Salary Caps!
Every professional football team must work within its financial limits and manage its resources wisely. Likewise, we are called to be faithful stewards of the financial resources God has entrusted to us. Together, we will explore practical approaches to financial stewardship using God’s playbook. For example, a financial plan might include 10% for savings, 10% for giving, and 80% for living expenses—or 5% for savings, 5% for giving, and 90% for living expenses. These are simply examples, not requirements. The goal is to prayerfully discern a plan that reflects God’s leading in our lives.

3. Third Timeout: Giving Our Time —November 8     It’s the Two-Minute Drill!
Time is one of God’s precious gifts, and each of us has a limited amount to give. During this timeout, we will consider how we can make the most of the time God has entrusted to us. Let’s look at our schedules and ask: How many hours each week or month can we commit to serving God through our church and community? Together, we will explore how to make our time count for God’s purposes.

4. Fourth Timeout: Giving Ourselves —November 15 Final ‘Tush Push’ Over the Goal Line!
Consecration Sunday brings our stewardship journey together as one team. During worship, we will celebrate God’s faithfulness and consecrate our talents, treasures, and time to God. As an act of faith and commitment, we will bring our completed Estimated Giving Cards to the altar. Together, we will offer our intentions to God, trusting that God will use our combined gifts to strengthen our church and further our mission.

Praying About God’s Game Plan for Giving As we prepare for Consecration Sunday, please keep these important thoughts in mind:
  • This is about equipping, not pressuring. We are not trying to push anyone into giving. Instead, we want to provide a biblical foundation and practical guidance to help you prayerfully discern how much of your talents, treasures, and time you feel called to offer to God through our church.
  • We invite you to listen for God’s leading. Rather than simply deciding what feels comfortable or convenient, take time to pray and reflect on what God may be asking of you in each area of stewardship (your talents, treasures, & time). Then record your intentions on your Estimated Giving Card.
  • We are trusting God and one another. The combined estimates from our congregation will shape our church’s 2027 budget. We are grateful for every person who prayerfully participates, and we trust God to guide us as we plan for the year ahead.
  • Everyone is invited to participate in Consecration Sunday. Please plan to join the whole congregation on November 15 as we bring our Estimated Giving Cards to the altar. Whether you complete your card in advance or that very morning, we will pray together as one church family over every card placed before God.

We are grateful for you and for the many ways your lives continue to say yes to God.
As we embark on this stewardship journey, may we remember that God is truly “Worth Investing In” so we can be the best version of ourselves. By faithfully offering our talents, treasures, and time, we invest in God’s Kingdom and help our church become all God has called us to be.
