Our 130th Anniversary on April 19th gives us a chance to look back at where we’ve been and also to move faithfully and boldly into the future. Our Anniversary committee gave us the chance to choose a new logo and this one was designed by Scott Lee, who grew up in our congregation. It won by a 2 to 1 margin!
The Tower is the most visible landmark that is seen up to 1/2 mile away. It has been guiding people to our church since 1966. In that tower is our bell that was once the school bell at the Lancaster Elementary School. We want it to continue to call people to faith and growth in Jesus Christ for years to come.
The flame represents our United Methodist heritage as well as our passion for Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit within us. We will still see that “Cross and the Flame” logo on our hymnals on our official documents to designate our United Methodist connection even as we use this new logo to uniquely identify us here in the Antelope Valley.
We are emphasizing “LANCASTER UNITED” in that we are praying and working for our community to come together in many ways. We work and pray for all the Christian churches to come together in Christ, we work and pray for all the religious communities to come together in love, and we work and pray for all of the residents of Lancaster and the Antelope Valley to come together in cooperation and justice to work side by side for the betterment of our valley, state, nation and world.
