We are committed to help each and every one in our congregation
discover and discern what God has in store for us.
Did you know you have spiritual gifts? Yes, even you! The apostle Paul did not want Christians to be “ignorant” about spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1). At Lancaster UMC, we don’t either!
We are called to know the Lord with our Head, love Him with our Heart, and serve Him with our Hands – and there are ways to help us discern just how we can do that.

God’s plan for the church calls for each member to play a vital role.
Sometimes we think serving God is an obligation, a duty, and that it isn’t meant to be enjoyable. The truth is God wants us to find joy and fulfillment when we serve.
Spiritual fulfillment is most likely when we serve in a role that matches who God created us to be.
Know your Spiritual Gifts.
Each of us has unique gifts that we have been given to use in service and knowing what those gifts are is helpful as you seek a service role.
If you are unfamiliar with spiritual gifts, you may want to consider participating in an upcoming Spiritual Gifts Discovery course or stop by the Connection Point and pick up a STRIDE Guide at our Sunday morning welcome center or online here.

Our Serving from the Heart workshop offers a two Saturday journey of self-discovery to learn about how the body of Christ is intended to function and what that means to each person.
Part I covers the definition of Spiritual Gifts and the identification of our talents and the various resources that God gives us over our lifetime.
Part II covers our individuality and personality as well as the dreams and experiences we each carry.
A NOTE ABOUT SPIRITUAL GIFTS & TALENTS
Sometimes we confuse talents with spiritual gifts. They can seem very similar because both refer to an exceptional ability to do something.
Natural abilities may mirror gifts, but there are differences. Spiritual gifts are given to Christians, while every person (Christian or not) is born with natural talents. Talents are sometimes used to benefit others, but they can also be used for self-edification. Spiritual gifts are only used to glorify God and to serve others.
One way to distinguish whether an ability is a talent or a spiritual gift is to consider the purpose and the results: Does the ability serve others and glorify God?
Spiritual gifts will have a ‘yes’ answer to both parts of this question.
What energizes you? Consider what is a passion for you, for example is it assisting elderly, or children, or those in need…what peaks your interest? Are you happiest working behind the scenes or ‘upfront?’
